Copus, the british Comittee on the Public Understanding of Science, is dead. RIP.
“We have reached the conclusion that the top-down approach which Copus currently exemplifies is no longer appropriate to the wider agenda that the science communication community is now addressing...For this reason, we have decided not to appoint a new Chair for Copus and to stand down the Council as it is presently constituted". There is a new weblog pointer on the block. It's called PhDweblogs.net and intends to bring together PhD students’ weblogs from all around the world. If you are preparing a PhD, or have a blog about your research interests, you can register it there. This was a great idea from António Granado put in practice by YDreams. We are going to register PEST control.

It was created the World Federation of Science Journalists.
Read the constitution and declaration.
The WFSJ will have its headquarters at the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg, France. The first General Assembly is expected to be held during the 4th World Conference in September in 2004 in Montreal, Canada.
